Maps

Maps, search, and directions all run on your own server. Your location and the places you look up never touch an online service, and the whole thing keeps working when the internet doesn’t.

Overview

The Maps feature gives you fully offline maps and navigation for the regions your admin has set up. There is no tile API, no data plan, and no internet required once a region is installed. The map renders right in the app with smooth zooming, a 2D/3D toggle, hillshaded terrain, and a light or dark theme that follows the app.

Finding a place

Type a location, address, business, or place name into the search box. Results come from a local search index built from OpenStreetMap data. Nothing is sent to an online service. You can also browse by category (restaurants, fuel, shops, and so on) and tap a result to see its details, including opening hours when available.

Getting directions

Select a place and choose Directions, then pick your travel mode: driving, walking, cycling, hiking, or mountain biking. The route, distance, and estimated time are all calculated locally, and you get the full turn-by-turn step list plus alternate routes to choose from.

Your location

Tap the locate button to drop a “you are here” dot and center the map on you. If your device or browser allows location access, the map can follow you; if not, you can still pan and search freely. Your position stays on your server and is never uploaded.

Saving pins

Drop and save your own pins with a label, color, and notes so favorite spots are one tap away.

Available regions

What you can see depends on which regions your admin has downloaded, for example:

Your local city or county
A state or country extract

When you zoom out or move outside an installed region, the map shows a low-detail world overview and lets you know you are out of coverage. If your area isn’t covered, ask your admin to download the relevant region.

Satellite view

Satellite imagery needs internet, so it is only offered when the server is online. The map automatically drops back to the offline vector map when you go offline.
